Washington, DC, November 17, 2025 — Dr. Tigist Mekonnen Melesse, Executive Director of the Social Innovation and Impact Institute (Si3), issued the following statement today on the passing of Dr. Werner Maokola, the Institute's Country Representative in Tanzania.

“On behalf of the Social Innovation and Impact Institute, I offer our deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Werner. As a Research Scientist in clinical trials and implementation science projects with the Ministry of Health in Tanzania, he dedicated his life to serving his country. We honor his legacy and mourn his loss alongside his family and the people of Tanzania.”
